VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. It is remote control software which allows you to view and interact with one computer (the "server") using a simple program (the "viewer") on another computer anywhere on the Internet. The two computers don't even have to be the same type, so for example you can use VNC to view an office Linux machine on your Windows PC at home. VNC is available for free and is in widespread active usage by millions throughout industry, academia and private cases. VNC allows you to interact with a remote computer in a much easier fashion.

TightVNC is a free remote control software package. With TightVNC, you can see the desktop of a remote machine and control it with your local mouse and keyboard, just like what you would do when sitting in the front of that computer.

Step 1: Install vncserver
For Lemuntu on LeMaker Guitar:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install tightvncserver

For Debian on HiKey:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install x11vnc

Step 2: Start vncserver
For Lemuntu on LeMaker Guitar:

vncserver :1

If you want to stop vncserver, you can type the command below:

vncserver –kill :1

For Debian on HiKey:

x11vnc -ncache 10

Step 3: Type the command below to get the SBC’IP address

Step 4: Use VNC Viewer to remote control your SBC on your desktop PC.

Vnc-viewer1.png is the IP address of your SBC. 5901 is the default port of tightvncserver. And 5900 is the default port of v11vnc.

Input the password, you will see the desktop, for example Ubuntu Mate as below.
